Support Art and Cake, one art writer at a time with our continuing surprise postcard fundraiser!
"Art and artists evolve, but without the written word, our stories risk going untold."
Dedicated to expanding the cultural conversation, Art and Cake provides an accessible forum for the cultivation, support, and advancement of diverse and inclusive contemporary voices in the Los Angeles art world.
We have the infrastructure, the vision, and the passion to champion local art writers and support our community.
We are reaching out to you because of your love of the art world. Let’s do something together to build a sustainable future for art journalism.
HELP US SUPPORT ART WRITERS AND CELEBRATE THE DIVERSE VOICES IN OUR LOS ANGELES ART COMMUNITY
This Fall 2024, Art and Cake has pivoted to publishing exclusively through the nonprofit January Arts, whose breadth of resources and community support will enable us to employ more art writers and hire an editorial staff.
With your support, we will:
Champion more underrepresented artists.
Promote visibility of avant-garde movements.
Bring attention to little known facets of LA Art History.
Pioneer an art writers’ mentorship program.
Continue existing programs such as exhibition reviews, studio visits and artist spotlights.

Patti Fortlage shared about her experience receiving the surprise postcards in the mail: I was disappointed that I could not attend the fundraiser in person, especially when I saw pictures of the space all decked out with piece after piece of mysterious delight hanging on the walls, so imagine my joy when I learned the fundraiser was still going on and that I could participate from afar! It was so fun to receive my postcards in the mail and to get to open each new piece of art. The talent is outstanding. Some were from artists I had yearned to own work from and others were from artists I had yet to be introduced to. Either way, they came at a time when I was really struggling with some personal things so getting them in the mail was an uplift I didn't even know I needed. It was an incredible win all the way around, and so much fun!
